My interest in sewing began as a small child and I still have my first appliqué pictures made when I was around 9 years old.  Like most people of a ‘certain age’ I started making a hexagon quilt, hand stitched over papers, when I was in my teens but didn’t get it finished for another 30 years or so!!

I was finally and irrevocably hooked by the patchwork and quilting bug over 25 years ago and I enrolled on a City and Guilds course where I learned more than I could ever have imagined.  I now aim to share that knowledge and encourage more people to learn this traditional yet enduring craft.

I especially want to ensure that beginners are able to learn at their own pace in a supportive environment so I have developed a step by step approach where you can build on your skills and make items that demonstrate the new techniques you have learnt.

Since 2011 I have been working closely with The Cotton Patch and others to ensure you have access to all the new techniques and ideas alongside a good balance of classes, short courses and block of the month programmes.  Testimony to the effectiveness of my approach is the number of ‘serial attenders’ that I have!

From its launch in February 2017 to its end in December 2019 I was a member of the guest designer team on the Sewing Quarter tutorial and shopping channel. This gave me the opportunity to reach out to a wider audience and undertake projects that I would probably never have done.  You will find videos of the TV shows I was involved in via my home page or by clicking here
