Accurate cutting is the essential starting point for any project and being confident with a rotary cutter is a good skill to have. Using a rotary cutter accurately means that cut pieces will fit together accurately and quilt blocks will be more precise and measure the desired size.
However, there is a bewildering range of equipment to choose from and a number of aids to help you depending on your capabilities and any physical limitations you may have such as arthritis in your hands.
I have therefore developed a new one-day class that focuses solely on safe and accurate cutting. During the day you will have plenty of guidance as well as hands on practice to improve your confidence and ability. You will learn how to get the best from your rotary cutter and how to use the markings on your ruler to cut a variety of shapes such as triangles, diamonds and hexagons.
You will have the opportunity to try out a range of other equipment including a selection of rulers, cutting aids, Marti Michel Perfect Patchwork templates, Sissix Die cutter and the Fiskars Combo rotary cutter and ruler.
The day also includes a masterclass on how to calculate fabric requirements for different projects so that knowing the fabric quantities to buy for your projects is easier too.
Fabric is included in the cost of the class so all you will need to bring is your mat, rotary cutter and ruler(s).
